The Fire Islander Guide Est.1970’s

The Fire Islander magazine, published monthly from October to May and weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day throughout the 1970s, was produced by T.I.C. Enterprises, Ltd. in collaboration with David T. Paul. This vibrant publication highlighted significant events on the island, featured stories about its residents and workers, and included thought-provoking opinion editorials contributed by islanders.

These newspaper magazines were the only way to get information and stories about Fire Island.

This cover was adapted from an original photo of a sign that was placed in the harbor by residents of Fire Island Pines who were upset that the “Cherry Grove type of people” were moving to the Pines in the 1950s.

The entertainment guide of Cherry Grove gives you an idea of the quality of performers at the Ice Palace.
