Fire Island Celebrity history- Cher
If we could turn back time? We did! Singer/Actress Cher first visited the Pines in 1981, and even went to the Tea Dance! She came back to the Pines again in 2016!
She goes to Tea Dance, and stops by the “Barbara” yacht.
Longtime Pines resident Karin Adir remembers: While in the Pines she goes shopping at Melbamar boutique. “I noticed this woman in front of me on line paying. In a bikini with straggly black hair. As she bent down to sign her check I noticed the name…C H E R !”
She returns in 2016 for a political fundraiser.
She is taken over and back by David and Jodi Mahler on their yacht “Cross Connect.” She arrives secretly Friday night August 19th and is transported to the Pines Club on the bay where the event will take place. The Island is abuzz with everything Cher. She poses with fans for photo’s and is very polite and friendly.
