Fire in the Pines- 2011

Fire in the Pines November 14-15 2011. Pavilion and LaFountaine building burn…

History repeated itself Monday November 14, 2011 at 9pm as a fire broke out in the alley between the Pavilion and LaFountaine /Sip n Twirl bulding. The Lafountaine propane office is located right there making for a situation that was explosive, and it did just that… explode. Similar to the fire in 1959 where Peggy Fears Botel and Pines Yacht Club burned to the ground, the difference being no Fire department in place then.

More than 20 Fire Departments from Long Island helped in the effort. The fire began around 9pm and was still smoldering the next morning.

Pines community members Realtor Bob Howard among the ruins,LaFountaine building owner Nicole LaFountaine surveys the damage., and contractor Walter Boss at the scene.

The Pines Volunteer Fire Department came to fight with support from Fire Departments all over Long Island.

And when the light of day came our community was a shell, but Community came together…

Plans to rebuild began immediately with the town of Brookhaven, and community came out.

The Pavilion owned by FI Pines Ventures will wait as they plan. Cleanup begins as waiting on permits. And so a vision by architect Scott Bromley comes to life…
